Grade-First Organization

Knowbotic Academy organizes all classes using a grade-first hierarchy: when browsing the Classes list or the sidebar, classes are grouped under their grade heading, not listed flat. You enter both a subject and grade when creating a class — in any order you prefer.

For example, if you run Grade 5 and Grade 8 classes, your sidebar looks like this:

Grade 5
Mathematics
Science
English
Grade 8
Physics
Chemistry

Here is how the grade-first structure affects your day-to-day workflow:

1

When creating a class, you enter subject and grade as text

The creation form has a Subject field and a Grade field — both free-text with quick-select shortcuts. You can type any custom value and are not restricted to a predefined list.

2

The sidebar groups your classes by grade

In the Classes section of your sidebar, each grade is a collapsible heading. Click a grade heading to expand or collapse all classes under it. This keeps the sidebar tidy even when you have many classes.

3

Assigning homework respects the same hierarchy

When choosing a class in the Assign & Share dialog, classes are listed under their grade heading — making it quick to pick the right class without scrolling through a flat list.

Note: The grade-first grouping is how classes are displayed, not a restriction on how you enter data. When you create a class, you type the subject and grade freely. You can also add an optional label (e.g. “Monday batch”) to distinguish groups within the same grade and subject.
