Homework Status Lifecycle
Every homework assignment has one of three statuses. You can see the current status on the Homework page next to each assignment title, and filter by status using the tabs at the top (All, Drafts, Live, Closed):
The assignment has been created but not yet sent to students. Only you can see it. Magic links have not been distributed. Assignments remain in Drafts if you have set a future Opens At date.
The assignment is active and students can open their magic link and submit at any time. The status badge shows a pulsing green dot to indicate it is live. Due date display shows how much time is left — for example: "3d left", "Due today". Your tracking page updates in real time as students submit.
The Closes At date has passed, or you have manually closed the assignment. Students can no longer submit — their magic links no longer accept new submissions. The due date shows as overdue in coral, for example: "Overdue · Jan 15". All scores and results remain visible on the detail page.
Status transitions — an assignment moves from Live to Closed automatically when its Closes At date passes. If no Closes At date was set, the assignment stays Live until you close it manually.
